Title: The Reluctant Hallelujah by Gabrielle WilliamsWant? Add to your Goodreads shelf!
Release Date: February 22nd 2012
Published by: Penguin Australia
Summary (from Goodreads):
But there I go, getting ahead of myself. Skipping straight to the part where I was front-page news and they were calling me Dorothy, instead of starting at the beginning...
When Dodie's parents go missing just as final year exams are about to start, she convinces herself they're fine. But when the least likely boy in class holds the key – quite literally – to the huge secret her parents have been hiding all these years, it's up to Dodie, her sister, the guy from school, and two guys she's never met before, to take on the challenge of a lifetime. So now Dodie's driving – unlicensed –to Sydney, and being chased by bad guys, the police, and one very handsome good guy.
Why I'm waiting for The Reluctant Hallelujah:
Because I really wouldn't mind being chased by a very handsome guy too. Who would? This book sounds all kinds of fun. The summary also kind of makes me wonder what happened before she got chased by bad guys and the police. Is she a fugitive? A murder? Or maybe because she's just driving to Sydney without a license?
Title: Wentworth Hall by Abby GrahameWant? Add to your Goodreads list!
Release Date: May 1st 2012
Published by: Simon & Schuster Books For Young Readers
Summary (from Goodreads):
A lush, historical novel about the secretive Darlingtons of Wentworth Hall! The prettiest people often have the ugliest secrets…
Eighteen-year-old Maggie Darlington has turned into an entirely different person. The once spirited teen is now passive and reserved. A change Lord and Lady Darlington can’t help but be grateful for.
It’s 1912, and the Darlingtons of Wentworth Hall have more than just the extensive grounds to maintain. As one of Britain’s most elite families, they need to keep up appearances that things are as they have always been…even as their carefully constructed faĆade rapidly comes undone.
Maggie has a secret. And she’s not the only one…the handsome groom Michael, the beautiful new French nanny Therese, the Darlingtons’ teenage houseguests Teddy and Jessica, and even Maggie’s younger sister Lila are all hiding something. Passion, betrayal, heartache, and whispered declarations of love take place under the Darlingtons’ massive roof. And one of these secrets has the power to ruin the Darlingtons forever.
When scandalous satires start appearing in the newspaper with details that closely mirror the lives of the Darlingtons, everyone is looking over their shoulder, worrying their scandal will be next. Because at Wentworth Hall, nothing stays secret for long.
Why I'm waiting for Wentworth Hall:
What does this reminds you of? Like a Gossip Girl historical YA fiction? I love the mystery, the intrigue, the dirty little secrets and all the lies this book seem to promise/present. It sounds like reading a soap opera, and I'm really in the mood for that right now!
