[Dystopian Domination] Day 8: Divergent by Veronica Roth Mini-review, trailer + Giveaway!

We're halfway through with the event and I am enjoying doing this so much! It's been fun sharing all of things dystopia with you all and today I am featuring one of the most anticipated and ONE OF THE BEST books this 2011!

I have reviewed Divergent a few weeks ago, and here's a snippet of my long review, where I basically just say I worship Veronica Roth over and over. :)

Title: Divergent by Veronica Roth
Pages: 487
Release Date: May 3rd, 2011
Published by: From publisher (Thanks, HarperTeen!)
Buy: Amazon | Book Depository

Summary (from Goodreads):

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

Debut author Veronica Roth bursts onto the literary scene with the first book in the Divergent series—dystopian thrillers filled with electrifying decisions, heartbreaking betrayals, stunning consequences, and unexpected romance.

"...all the good praises has been given and all the great things about this book has been said. And Divergent deserves all the praises, the raves, and the great reviews it has been getting.

Divergent is a story about choices and living up for every single one you make, because its what defines you in the end, the way you live, and everything else in your life. It is up to you how you will live it, and that it is you who control your destiny.

I fell in love with Veronica Roth's writing and her ability to put words together and turn them into this amazing, brilliant read that will enthrall readers and transport them to Tris' world. Divergent has great world building, very detailed, but it didn't hamper the story or any of the characters' development in any way, and just with that, DIVERGENT gets my vote as the best dystopian book I've read this year. I know I've mentioned a few books that I said were the best, but THIS is the best of the best, the cream of the crop, that one great book topping the rest..."

  1. Then there is Four. I could devote pages and pages and then a few more pages to Four. Four is the kind of "hero" I love to love. He is confident and strong with an underlying tenderness that leaves you wanting more. I like how Four and Tris relate to each other. The way he believes in her when no one else seems to left me breathless. I love how the book made my heart pound and kept me captivated until the very end.
