Title: Ashes to Ashes by Melissa C. WalkerWant? Add to your Goodreads shelf!
Release Date: December 23rd 2013
Published by: Katherine Tegen Books
Summary (from Goodreads):
When Callie's life is cut short by a tragic accident, she expects to find nothingness, or maybe some version of heaven.
Instead, her spirit travels to the Prism, an ethereal plane populated by the ghosts she thought were fictional. Here she meets a striking and mysterious ghost named Thatcher, who is meant to guide her as she learns to haunt and bring peace to the loved ones she left behind.
However, Callie uncovers a dark secret about the spirit world: The angry souls who always populate ghost stories are real, dangerous, and willing to do whatever it takes to stay on Earth, threatening the existence of everyone she ever cared about.
As she fights to save them, Callie will learn that while it may no longer beat, her heart can still love-and break.
Why I'm waiting for Ashes to Ashes:
The beautiful, haunting cover gets you in the mood the moment you laid eyes on this. Ashes to Ashes do remind me of If I Stay, but also a little bit of Catastrophic History of You and Me, with a darker, more melancholic twist. I've been a fan of Melissa Walker since I've read Small Town Sinners and I'm looking forward to reading this new book of hers as well.
Title: Red Rising by Pierce BrownWant? Add to your Goodreads shelf!
Release Date: January 28th 2014
Published by: Del Rey (Random House)
Summary (from Goodreads):
Darrow is a miner and a Red, a member of the lowest caste in the color-coded society of the future. Like his fellow Reds, he digs all day, believing that he and his people are making the surface of the planet livable for future generations. Darrow has never seen the sky.
Yet he spends his life willingly, knowing that his blood and sweat will one day result in a better future for his children.
But Darrow and his kind have been betrayed. Soon he discovers that humanity already reached the surface generations ago. Vast cities and sprawling parks spread across the planet. Darrow and Reds like him are nothing more than slaves to a decadent ruling class.
Inspired by a longing for justice, and driven by the memory of lost love, Darrow joins a resistance group in order to infiltrate the ruling class and destroy society from within. He will stop at nothing to bring down his enemies... even if it means he has to become one of them to do so.
Why I'm waiting for Red Rising:
I don't think I've read a lot of dystopian novels with male POV, so I'm definitely curious with how this book turns out. I like the premise as well. To not have seen the sky, the sun, at all? How will that make you feel like? It's got a Maria Snyder vibe (at least for me), and I will definitely keep an eye on this.

Ashes to Ashes sounds so interesting. I’ve been eyeing it for a while. I love the idea of, like, a ghost fight that humans are completely oblivious about. Haha. I’ve read both If I Stay and The Catastrophic History of You and Me (and liked them!) and totally agree with the similarity. I’m so excited. sdvfbgersdf :D
