Title: Another Little Piece by Kate Karyus QuinnWant? Add to your Goodreads shelf!
Release Date: June 11th 2013
Published by: HarperTeen
Summary (from Goodreads):
A reckless wish taken from the darkest desires of the heart…
A bloody razor engraved with the names of the girls who turned to dust…
An endless cycle that feeds of loneliness and craves destruction…
Together, these pieces form a twisted puzzle that Annaliese Rose Gordon has to solve. Trapped in a body that isn’t hers—with no memory of how she got there—she must unlock the secrets of her past in order to escape the horrors of her future.
Why I'm waiting for Another Little Piece:
Okay, how awesome was THAT summary? Trapped in a body that is not her own? A razor that turned girls to dust? Yes, yes I want this book now. It sounds dark and a bit scary and all the things that I really want in a book right now.
Title: Ashes on the Waves by Mary LindseyWant? Add to your Goodreads shelf!
Release Date: June 27th 2013
Published by: Philomel/Penguin
Summary (from Goodreads):
Liam MacGregor is cursed. Haunted by the wails of fantastical Bean Sidhes and labeled a demon by the villagers of Dòchas, Liam has accepted that things will never get better for him—until a wealthy heiress named Annabel Leighton arrives on the island and Liam’s fate is changed forever.
With Anna, Liam finally finds the happiness he has always been denied; but, the violent, mythical Otherworlders, who inhabit the island and the sea around it, have other plans. They make a wager on the couple’s love, testing its strength through a series of cruel obstacles. But the tragedies draw Liam and Anna even closer. Frustrated, the creatures put the couple through one last trial—and this time it’s not only their love that’s in danger of being destroyed.
Based on Edgar Allan Poe’s chilling poem Annabel Lee, Mary Lindsey creates a frighteningly beautiful gothic novel that glorifies the power of true love.
Why I'm waiting for Ashes on the Waves:
The only other Poe inspired book I've read was Nevermore, which I greatly loved, and this one sounds like another great book based on Poe's work. Demons, Bean Sidhes and other mythical creatures out to break the bond of a couple? Sounds like a gothic book I should look forward to!
