Title: Falling to Ash (Moth) by Karen MahoneyWant? Add to your Goodreads shelf!
Release Date: September 2012
Published by: Random House
Summary (from Goodreads):
You can't choose your family ...living or dead.
Trapped between two very different worlds, newly made vampire Moth is struggling to find her place in either. Not only does she have to answer to her strict Irish-Catholic Dad, but her over-protective maker, Theo, is intent on making her the star attraction in his powerful Boston vampire clan. Moth will have to pull off the double-act of the century to please both of them...
Adding to her problems is the dangerously attractive Jason Murdoch, a trainee vampire hunter who loves to play cat and mouse in his spare time (Jace = cat; Moth = mouse). But when the teenagers of Boston's wealthiest families start to disappear, it forces Moth and Jace into an uneasy truce. Will they be able to solve the mystery behind the disappearances - before someone winds up undead?
Why I'm waiting for Falling to Ash (Moth):
Are you kidding? It's Karen Mahoney! I loved The Iron Witch and The Wood Queen so imagine how surprised I was when I came across this book a few seconds ago. I didn't even know she's releasing a new book! How about it? It sounds a bit funny and light but we all know we can't expect anything 'light' when it comes to vampire.
Title: The Stone Girl by Alyssa B. SheinmelWant? Add to your Goodreads list!
Release Date: August 28th 2012 by
Published by: Random House Children's Books
Summary (from Goodreads):
She feels like a creature out of a fairy tale; a girl who discovers that her bones are really made out of stone, that her skin is really as thin as glass, that her hair is brittle as straw, that her tears have dried up so that she cries only salt. Maybe that's why it doesn't hurt when she presses hard enough to begin bleeding: it doesn't hurt, because she's not real anymore.
Sethie Weiss is hungry, a mean, angry kind of hunger that feels like a piece of glass in her belly. She’s managed to get down to 111 pounds and knows that with a little more hard work—a few more meals skipped, a few more snacks vomited away—she can force the number on the scale even lower. She will work on her body the same way she worked to get her perfect grades, to finish her college applications early, to get her first kiss from Shaw, the boy she loves, the boy who isn’t quite her boyfriend.
Sethie will not allow herself one slip, not one bad day, not one break in concentration. Her body is there for her to work on when everything and everyone else—her best friend, her schoolwork, and Shaw—are gone.
From critically acclaimed writer Alyssa B. Sheinmel comes an unflinching and unparalleled portrayal of one girl’s withdrawal, until she is sinking like a stone into her own illness, her own loneliness—her own self.
Why I'm waiting for The Stone Girl:
One of the most beautiful books I've ever read is The Beautiful Between so I'm definitely looking forward to this. It reminds me a little bit of Reasons To Be Happy, which was very emotional and a bit difficult to read, because I can relate to the book's theme. The same can be said for this book!
