Waiting on Wednesday (48)

I am typing this post w/ my right eye half-closed because of infection. I think the strain of reading every day at night made my eyes protest and die. :D

So here are my pics for today, 2 contemp books and 1 mermaid themed. I love it!

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine

Summary (from Goodreads):

An urban romance that will capture your soul, break your heart, and restore your faith in the human spirit.

Fifteen-year-olds Cece and Mack didn't expect to fall in love. She's a sensitive A student; he's a high school dropout. But soon they're spending every moment together, bonding over a rescued dog, telling their secrets, making plans for the future. Everything is perfect. Until. Until. Mack makes a horrible mistake, and in just a few minutes, the future they'd planned becomes impossible. In this stark new reality, both of them must find meaning and hope in the memories of what they had, to survive when the person they love can't stay.

From award-winning writer Paul Griffin, Stay with Me is both heartbreaking and uplifting, filled with characters (both dog and human) that will forever change the way you look at the world.

Why I'm waiting for Stay With Me:

The title itself sounds so powerful. This sounds like one of those emotional novel that's so painful to read but you just can't put down. And I wonder what this "horrible" mistake is.

Title: Have You Seen Ally Queen? by Deb Fitzpatrick
Release Date: September 1st 2011
Published by: Fremantle Press

Summary (from Goodreads):

Ally Queen, aged fifteen, is the new kid in a very small town. Uprooted from her comfortable city life and dumped in ‘hicksville’ she’s trying to find her place amongst the bogans, the surfies and the spinach-munching hippies.

Life is tough when your closest friend is miles away and deep and meaningful conversations are restricted to the length of a text message. And Ally needs a friend. Her mum is suffering post-traumatic stress disorder and the quiet country life, which was meant to help things, just seems to make them worse.

When she meets Rel the annoying boy next door, it seems she’s hit rock bottom. But first impressions can be deceptive and, as Ally learns to relax, she discovers that life needn’t be as hard as she makes it.

Why I'm waiting for Have You Seen Ally Queen?:

Another great example of interesting Aussie YA contemporary book. I swear, Australia seem to have a knack for publishing great YA novel books, like this one. It somehow reminds me of 10 Miles Past Normal.

Title: Everblue (Mer Tales #1) by Brenda Pandos
Release Date: July 31st 2011
Published by: Obsidian Mountain Publishing
Want? Add to your Goodreads shelf!
Summary (from Goodreads):

Best friends share everything with each other. Or do they? Seventeen-year-old Ashlyn Frances Lanski is tired of her boring, single life. Spending time with her best friend Tatiana, dreaming about kissing Tatiana's twin brother Fin, and swimming competitively are her only sanctuary. The girls plan to leave their drab lakeside town far behind for college. But when Tatchi fails to return home after a family emergency, and no one knows where the family has gone, Ash chooses to do something drastic to find them.

Ashlyn is about to discover what she’d thought to be true her whole life, wasn’t, and the truth, too fantastical to imagine. Secrets lurk beneath the deep blue waters of Lake Tahoe, secrets that will change Ashlyn's life forever.

Why I'm waiting for Everblue:

I absolutely love Brenda Pandos! I've read The Emerald Talisman and she's such a wonderful writer. I wasn't aware that she's publishing another book other than The Onyx Talisman, so I was surprised when I saw several cover reveal posts for Everblue. I absolutely love mermaid themed books and this sounds like a book I'd want to read.
