This week we're putting the spotlight on three interesting books you might want to check out yourself. I'm very intrigued with Falling for Henry. :)
Title: Bloodspell by Amalie Howard
Release Date: June 1st 2011
Published by: Langdon Street Press
Summary (from Goodreads):
The spell was simple …
Cruentus Protectum. Defend the Blood.
But what do you do if your blood is your enemy?
Victoria Warrick has always known she was different. An outcast at school, she is no stranger to adversity. But when she receives an old journal for her seventeenth birthday, nothing prepares her for the dark secrets it holds—much less one that reveals she’s a witch with unimaginable power.
What’s more, when she meets the dazzling but enigmatic Christian Devereux, she has no idea how much her life is about to change. Enemies will hunt her. Friends will turn on her. The terrible curse that makes her blood run black will stop at nothing to control her. And Christian has a sinister secret of his own …
Without knowing whom to trust, can Victoria survive her blood’s deadly desires? Or will she lose everything, including herself?
Why I'm waiting for Bloodspell:
Gorgoeus cover, nice storyline. I haven't read much stories about Witches and this definitely deserves a second look. Sounds like a really promising novel and I'm curious... her blood turns black? Or that's just me failing at the metaphor?
Title: Falling for Henry by Beverley Brenna
Release Date: November 2011
Published by: Red Deer Press
Summary (from Better World Books):
A 15-year old girl, lonely after the sudden death of her father, finds herself transported back to the days of Henry VIII's teenage years where she inhabits the body of Katherine of Aragon and has to deal with the increasingly fervent attentions of the young prince.
Why I'm waiting for Falling for Henry:
This sounds really nice. A girl transported back in time and meeting Henry VIII, even falling for him? I'm a big fan of Young Adult historical romances books, and this just sounds like a great read. Such a modern cover for "transported back in time" story.
Title: Score by Miranda Kenneally
Release Date: December 2011
Published by: Sourcebooks Fire
Summary (from Goodreads):
What girl doesn’t want to be surrounded by gorgeous jocks day in and day out? Jordan Woods isn’t just surrounded by hot guys, though—she leads them as the captain and quarterback on her high school football team. They all see her as one of the guys, and that’s just fine. As long as she gets her athletic scholarship to a powerhouse university. But now there’s a new guy in town who threatens her starring position on the team…and has her suddenly wishing to be seen as more than just a teammate.
Why I'm waiting for Score:
A female jock? Now that's something I haven't read in a long long time. I'm really intrigued. How will the story turn out if the girl's also a jock and not just the guy? I'm not a big fan of football but I have a feeling I am going to be a fan of this book. I just know it.
So what do you guys have as your WoW picks for this week? Please share!
