Anyway, here's my Waiting on Wednesday line-up for this week.
Title: Wish Me Dead by Helen Grant
Release Date: June 2nd 2011
Published by: Puffin
Summary (from Goodreads):
The funny thing is I never even meant the first one.
Now I bitterly regret visiting the cursed witch's house, deep in the middle of the forest. It's where I made my wishes.
I wished Klara Klein dead.
It came true.
I wished for the most gorgeous boy in town to finally notice me.
It came true.
I wished to be rid of the poisonous busybody who destroyed my family.
It came true.
I didn't mean for this to happen. Not me, Steffi Nett, the shy one who never says anything. But as the body count increases with every wish I make . . .
Who else could it be?
Why I'm waiting for Wish Me Dead:
Despite seeing that 1-star review rating over at Goodreads I still think this book has a lot of potential to be a great supernatural thriller. Think of Death Note, minus the notebook of course & 16 wishes combined. Pretty interesting, right?
Title: Pure Red by Danielle Joseph
Release Date: September 8th 2011
Published by: Flux
Summary (from Goodreads):
Orange is for energy, pink means love, and I, Cassia Bernard, do solemnly swear to find pure red—my passion—this summer. Dad's raison d'ĂȘtre is art. When he's painting, no one can reach him, not even me.
I'm giving basketball a chance. But what I really want to score this summer is the adoration of Graham Hadley—a.k.a. Cutebutt. Then when Dad agrees to mentor Graham with his art project, all of Cutebutt's attention is on Dad—leaving me feeling as colorless as the Miami sky on a rainy day. But I'm not giving up just yet.
Why I'm waiting for Pure Red:
Two things: I love Danielle Joseph's books and basketball. I've read Shrinking Violet and I loved it! (Been trying to find a copy of Indigo Blues to no avail) I was a bit surprised since her last two books have something to do w/ music and this one's about basketball. I grew up watching the sport w/ my dad, so I'm excited for this. Basketball + Art? Nice combination!
Title: Love Story by Jennifer EcholsWhy I'm waiting for Love Story:
Release Date: July 19th 2011
Published by: MTV Books
Summary (from Goodreads):
WRITE WHAT YOU KNOW.
Erin Blackwell is headed to college in New York City to study creative writing and earn a living as a romance novelist. Her grandmother has other plans: she approves of the college, but she wants Erin to major in business and then come back home to Kentucky to run the family’s famous racehorse farm. There is no way Erin will agree. Studying in New York and writing her way into a career is her escape from the farm and the family tragedy that happened there. So Erin’s grandmother decides Erin really will live life as a starving artist. She takes Erin’s future job running the farm, her inheritance, even her college tuition, and gives them all to Hunter Allen.
Hunter has lived on the farm for years. He’s Erin’s age, he’s the stable boy, and he’s the romantic dream of every girl in her high school. But he was involved in the family tragedy. Erin has always given him a wide berth. And he’s a slick opportunist. She’s furious that he fooled her grandmother into giving him Erin’s birthright and sending him to Erin’s college.
At least she’s free of him in her creative writing class. So she pens a story that has haunted her lately, in which the horse farm heiress at the very first Kentucky Derby starts a forbidden affair with the lowly stable boy. Unfortunately for her, the day she’s sharing this story with her New York classmates, Hunter walks in. He’s switching to her class. And after reading about himself in Erin’s story, he writes his own sexy assignments that lure Erin into dangerous fantasies about what could have been between them, and what might be.
I got goosebumps after reading the summary. I'm not kidding. This was probably the most intense summary I've read to date, and I can just imagine what kind of sexy stories Erin and Hunter writes about. I do love stories where both characters just have plenty of intense moments, waiting for who will break/give in first. THIS is that kind of book. And I wonder what this "tragedy" is that makes Erin avoid Hunter. I am totally smitten over this. July is still too far away and I'm just dying to read this!
