This week we're featuring three books! I don't think we've ever featured just one book, but anyway, I am very excited to get all three! :)
Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine
Title: Touch of Frost (Mythos Academy #1) by Jennifer Estep
Release Date: July 26th 2011
Published by: Kensington
Summary (from Goodreads):
Gwen Frost is a 17-year-old Gypsy girl with the gift of psychometry — or the ability to know an object’s history just by touching it. Gwen can see everyone who’s ever touched an object — and she can feel their emotions too, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Gwen uses her magic to track down objects that other kids have lost like cell phones, wallets, and purses — for a price.
After a serious freakout with her magic and her mom’s death, Gwen gets shipped off to Mythos Academy, a school for the rich, privileged descendants of ancient warriors like Spartans, Amazons, Valkyries, and more. Gwen doesn’t know one end of the sword from the other, and she doesn’t fit in with the other kids. But when Jasmine Ashton, the most popular girl in school is murdered, and Gwen herself is attacked, Gwen decides to use her Gypsy gift to figure out who killed the other girl and why — and finds herself learning some secrets that just might kill her …
Title: He's So Not Worth It by Kieran Scott
Release Date: June 7th 2011
Published by: Simon & Schuster (Juv)
Summary (from Goodreads):
Ally Ryan, come on down to the Jersey Shore and forget your troubles!
Have you recently been humiliated in front of your friends and family at your former best friend's birthday party? Was your almost boyfriend partly responsible for that humiliation by withholding some vital information about where your estranged father is? Did you come home to find said estranged father sitting on your stoop?
If so, then it sounds like you could use a vacation! The Jersey Shore is the place to be. Your mother may be living with her boyfriend of only a few months, but at least the stunt Shannen pulled has put some of your friends back in your court. Even so, you're still angry and what better way to get over Jake than to blow off some steam with local guy, Cooper? People will hardly recognize your new attitude, but the old one wasn't getting you anywhere, so who cares!
Jake Graydon, an exciting opportunity is waiting for you in the service industry!
Are your grades so low your parents have grounded you for the summer? Did the girl you really like unceremoniously leave you behind? Would you rather eat dirt than see your friends again? Then a job at the local coffee shop is just the ticket! Surprisingly, Ally's father is the new manager so you get to be reminded of her nearly every day. Maybe it's time to start flirting with your best friend's ex or even taking school a bit more seriously. Especially when you finally see Ally and she's hanging around with some loser and it couldn't be more clear that she is over you.
Have a great summer!

Summary (from Goodreads):
It's been four years since Donna Parisi's father passed away, but it might as well have been four days. Donna makes conversation and goes through the motion, but she hasn't really gotten on with life. She's not close with anyone, she doesn't have a boyfriend and she's going to college at the local university with a major that her mother picked. But one day Donna has an epiphany. She wants to work with dead people. She wants to help people say goodbye and she wants to learn to love a whole person--body and soul. She wants to live her life and be exceptional...at loving, at grieving and at embalming and cremating, too. Even as she makes the decision, things start to change. Donna makes friends with the charismatic new student, Liz. She notices the boy, Charlie, at her table and realizes that maybe he's been noticing her, too. And she begins to forgive the rest of her family for living their lives while she's been busy moping.
Why I'm waiting for Touch of Frost:
This is the first Jennifer Estep book I'm going to read. I know she writes but for other genres, and this book just called out to me. Again, it reminds me a bit of Half-Blood and Oh. My. Gods., but more action packed and darker than both books. A gypsy girl with a gift of Psychometry? Intriguing to say the least!
Why I'm waiting for He's So Not Worth It:
Because I've just finished reading She's So Dead To Us! He's So Not Worth It is a sequel to SSDTS, and I can't even begin to describe how excited I am that there's a sequel! It's going to be a long wait, but I'll try to be patient! I'm definitely curious to see how The Cresties are spending their summers, and if Ally and Jake will ever make-up again. Yes, I'm an Ally-Jake fan. :)
Why I'm waiting for Putting Make Up On Dead People:
This is one of the most unique book I've ever come across. Just the title is enough to make you curious about what this book is all about. It looks like a really touching story as well, though a bit creepy, since... why would you want to put make up on dead people?
Share your WoW's this week people! Would love to come across new books :)
A Touch of Frost sounds really good , cant wait to see what the cover looks like too.

ReplyDeleteTouch of Frost looks good! I hadn't heard of it before either, so thanks! The premise sort of reminds me of Hex Hall, but I love that the students are descendants of Gods, Amazons, and Valkyries.
