Follow Friday / Book Blogger Hop (20)

Oh my gosh, I just finished The Body Finder and it's good! I love it! :)

Oh, and in case you don't know, our CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN BLOG EVENT is still ongoing for the next few days until the 26th. Just follow the links on top of my blog, or the icon on the right side of the page. WIN AWESOME BOOKS! (To list a few: The Lipstick Laws, Personal Demons, Deadly, Misguided Angel and a few FABULOUS local Chick-list novels!)

TO THE HOP!

The question for this week is: What did you study in college, or are currently studying and did it lead to your current 9 to 5 or are you doing something totally different?
This will sound very geeky, but for some reason, my school combined Computer Science and Information Technology in one course. That's what I took up, and my major is Systems Software Engineering. I'm a Web Content Specialist, so yeah, it kind of lead to my 9 to 5 job. ;)

The question for this week: What do you consider the most important in a story: the plot or the characters?
Can I say both? For a book to be really good, the plot has to be intriguing and catchy enough for people to want to read that book, and the characters have to feel "alive" or they have to be someone interesting enough, or powerful enough, dynamic enough, to sustain a reader's attention all throughout the reading process.

Check out my review for The Espressologist! Finally! I think I've finally broke through my reading slump because I've finished 2 books this week, which I haven't done for quite a while now.

  1. I picked both, too. I could have the most brilliant piece of plot I've seen in my life, but without characters there is just nothing to drive that plot forward. On the other hand, I could have the most quirkiest, fleshed out characters ever, but if I didn't have a decent plot, they'd fall flat. Yknow? :/

Anyway... WHOOOHOOO YOU LOVED THE BODY FINDER I DID TOO! Caps were needed for emphasis! :D

While you were in a reading slump, I was in my exile. Your 2 books read trumps my 0 books read. I'm so excited to get back into the reading scene. I've got a ton of books I want to read! :P

  2. Happy Holidays to you, I had to choose both too though characters tend to grab me more sometimes.

  3. Hello my dear,

I think that characters are very important. I love seeing what happen to them and I love to swoon over a few fictional boyfriends more then I should. ;)

I recently finished a Biological Degree. Now I am working on a degree in History, Humanities, and Religious studies. I think I might never stop, Yes, the Mad Scientist thinks that she will be a lifer student. LOL!

I'm also the creater of Morbid Romantica Challenge 2011 which I'm trying to get off the ground. It should be a very fun challenge. AND it wont seem like homework. *smirk*

  4. I'm currently doing Library Science. I prefer characters over plot. But both are important. Happy Blog Hop.

  7. Old follower stopping by! I have to agree that plot and character are both important. If I had to choose, I would say that character is more important. At least for me. It's hard to care about the plot when the characters suck.

    Happy Hop!

I love getting comments from my readers and fellow bookworms, and I try my best to respond to all of them. Feel free to give me a piece of your thoughts. Also, this is an award-free blog. I simply don't have the time to highlight them anymore, but thank you for thinking of my blog!
