Anyway, here's my Waiting on Wednesday picks for today. I have two! :)
Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine
Title: Imaginary Girls by Nova Ren Suma
Release Date: June 14th 2011
Published by: Dutton
Summary:
Chloe’s older sister, Ruby, is the girl everyone looks to and longs for, who can’t be captured or caged. When a night with Ruby’s friends goes horribly wrong and Chloe discovers the dead body of her classmate London Hayes floating in the reservoir, Chloe is sent away from town and away from Ruby.
But Ruby will do anything to get her sister back, and when Chloe returns home two years later, a precarious and deadly balance waits. As Chloe flirts with the truth that Ruby has hidden deeply away, the fragile line between life and death is redrawn by the complex bonds of sisterhood.
Imaginary Girls is a masterfully distorted vision of family reminiscent of Shirley Jackson, laced with twists that beg for their secrets to be kept.
Title: Texas Gothic by Rosemary Clement-MooreWhy I'm waiting for Imaginary Girls:
Release Date: July 12th 2011
Published by: Delacorte Books for Young Readers
Summary:
Amy Goodnight's family is far from normal. She comes from a line of witches, but tries her best to stay far outside the family business. Her summer gig? Ranch-sitting for her aunt with her wacky but beautiful sister. Only the Goodnight Ranch is even less normal than it normally is. Bodies are being discovered, a ghost is on the prowl, and everywhere she turns, the hot neighbor cowboy is in her face.
Can you believe that cover? It's so gorgeous! It sounds like a very powerful story involving sisters and I'm a big fan of novels about sisters. But really, the cover just draws you in. Awesome cover + intriguing story = fantastic!
Why I'm waiting for Texas Gothic:
Witches! I'm taking a break from reading about vampires and werewolves and fairies (my last for this week will be the Iron Fey series) so I'm switching to witches! Again, its somewhat about sisters, though this sounds like a lighter read that Imaginary Girls, I'm sure it'll be fun. :)
So what are your WoW picks this week? Can't wait to see yours!
