This might sound weird, but I have loved you and your writing the moment I laid my eyes on Taken by Storm's summary a year ago. I haven't read any of your books, but even back then I had a feeling you are an amazing author. And when I picked up Taken by Storm and read its first few pages, I knew I was right. My instincts didn't fail me. This is worth the read.
And for that, I thank you for writing such a wonderful masterpiece. This just took my breath away. I knew there's more to Leesie and Michael's story, and I will follow and continue on reading to the very end.
Love,
Kai
Title: Taken by Storm
Author: Angela Morrison
Pages: 291
Summary:
Leesie Hunt has many rules: No kissing. No sex. No dating outside the Mormon faith.
When Michael Walden--a deep-sea diver who lost his parents in a violent hurricane--arrives in town, Leesie sees someone who needs her. They fall for one another, even though his dreams are tied to the depths of the ocean and hers to salvation above.
Will their intense chemistry be too strong to resist?
Leesie and Michael must make the hardest choice of their lives: whether to follow their beliefs or their hearts.
KAI'S MOST PRIVATE CHAPBOOK
Poem #1: Thank You
The book stares back
as I sit there,
wiping my tears,
sad that its over.
Michael, the boy who
survived.
Left alone, drowning in
sorrow, tragedy,
Isadore hot on his trails,
plagued with nightmares,
in pain, and in denial.
A wreck who needs saving.
Freak.
Leesie, the girl with the sun-kissed hair
writes poems,
has her life planned out,
thinks she can save Michael.
Has God on her side.
Pure, untouched, holy.
But who really needs saving,
and from what?
Two souls finding their way
to each other.
Are they brave enough
to weather the storm?
Or will Isadore, and faith,
and the sea, and nightmares,
and their differences
rip them apart?
A beautiful story,
haunting,
captivating and passionate,
sad, but hopeful.
One about faith,
and trust,
acceptance,
death and love.
My emotions are in overdrive.
And when I read the last page,
I realized,
I was taken in by the storm.
-----------
I couldn't resist writing a review in the same format as Leesie's poem. I apologize if I didn't do any justice at all, but for the first time, I think writing a review doesn't need too much words.
The story talks about a lot of things, Leesie's spirituality and her striving to go by the rules she has set. Michael, and his battle to overcome the tragedy of his parents death. The intensity of Michael and Leesie's emotions were felt throughout a story, sometimes it was painful just to read about it. You can feel their pain, their struggle, their uncertainty as they try to find a balance between their emotions, what they believe in and all the other things that separates them. It opened my eyes to a lot of things as their journey is a reflection of two teenagers life, tested by their faith and their love for each other.

ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to read this book for so long, but I can't seem to find a copy of it in our local bookstore.
Thank you for your unique review!
I have a feeling that she is! I've read interviews of her and she sounds very charming! I'd love to interview her someday. :)
ReplyDeleteWhere do you buy your books? I think Fully Booked still has some copies, though the last time we checked they only have Sing Me To Sleep. Go read her books!
