Waiting on Wednesday (135): Nearly Gone + Afterparty

Hello reader! Are you still looking over my blog? Thanks if you do and if you aren't. Come on! I have some exciting things planned to revive my book blogs so you should definitely check it out starting today!

It's been a while since I did this but I have to say, my WoW picks are looking mighty fine. I bet you'd like to read them too! ;)

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine

Title: Nearly Gone by Elle Cosimano

Summary (from Goodreads):

Bones meets Fringe in a big, dark, scary, brilliantly-plotted urban thriller that will leave you guessing until the very end.

Nearly Boswell knows how to keep secrets. Living in a DC trailer park, she knows better than to share anything that would make her a target with her classmates. Like her mother's job as an exotic dancer, her obsession with the personal ads, and especially the emotions she can taste when she brushes against someone's skin. But when a serial killer goes on a killing spree and starts attacking students, leaving cryptic ads in the newspaper that only Nearly can decipher, she confides in the one person she shouldn't trust: the new guy at school—a reformed bad boy working undercover for the police, doing surveillance. . . on her.

Nearly might be the one person who can put all the clues together, and if she doesn't figure it all out soon—she'll be next.

Why I'm waiting for Nearly Gone:

The summary had me at 'Fringe'. And I haven't watched Bones yet (I know!) but can you combine both shows and create a YA book out of it? Yep, apparently Elle Cosimano was able to do it. I am so very very intrigued with a lot of things about this novel. The plot sounds so intriguing and I have a serious crush on the cover! It somehow reminds me of Jennifer Lynn Barnes' The Naturals, with Nearly's ability, so I definitely have high hopes for this book. I can't wait to read it!

Title: Afterparty by Ann Redisch Stampler
Release Date: January 7th 2014
Published by: Simon Pulse
Want? Add to your Goodreads shelf!
Summary (from Goodreads):

Emma is tired of being good. Always the dutiful daughter to an overprotective father, she is the antithesis of her mother -- whose name her dad won't even say out loud. That's why meeting Siobhan is the best thing that ever happened to her...and the most dangerous. Because Siobhan is fun and alluring and experienced and lives on the edge. In other words, she's everything Emma is not.

And it may be more than Emma can handle.

Because as intoxicating as her secret life may be, when Emma begins to make her own decisions, Siobhan starts to unravel. It's more than just Dylan, the boy who comes between them. Their high-stakes pacts are spinning out of control. Elaborate lies become second nature. Loyalties and boundaries are blurred. And it all comes to a head at the infamous Afterparty, where debauchery rages and an intense, inescapable confrontation ends in a plummet from the rooftop...

Why I'm waiting for Afterparty:

Have I ever told you how much I love Ann Redisch Stampler's writing? Where It Began was amazing, and I was so happy when I found out that she has a new book coming out. Afterparty sounds so intense and emotional. I've always loved reading books about the ties that bind us, friendship being one of them, and how dangerous and scary it can get sometimes. I am definitely curious to know more and dive deeper into Emma and Siobhan's relationship and see just how it affect's Emma's life as a good daughter, vice versa.
