I'm pretty sure most of you have read this book by now. No? Haven't even heard of it? Why?

If you're like me who went through the required phase in life where you idolize or worship at least one boyband, I'm certain you'll love Nikki Godwin's book.

Summary:

The summer after graduation is supposed to be that first real taste of freedom - but not for eighteen-year-old Chloe Branson. Just as that breeze of freedom is making its way into her galaxy, her secret-service-agent dad drops a meteor-sized bomb of bad news on her and her sisters. An attempt has been made on the lives of Canadian boyband, Spaceships Around Saturn, during their USA tour, and the guys have to go into hiding ASAP. The only problem? In the midst of the crisis and media frenzy, their dad volunteered to hide the guys...in their house.

Six-year-old Emery is as ecstatic as any self-proclaimed Saturnite would be, but Chloe and her seventeen-year-old sister Aralie watch their summer plans crash and burn like a falling star. The SAS guys aren't happy with the situation, either. Bad boy Jules picks fights with Aralie about everything from his Twitter followers to his laundry, and heart-throb Benji can't escape Emery's fangirlisms for more than three minutes.

But after the super-cute Milo kisses Chloe during a game of hide-and-seek, she finally understands what Emery means when she talks about SAS being "out of this world." If this is what Saturn feels like, Chloe doesn't want to come back to Earth.

What would it feel like to have a boy band stay in your house? It's every girl's dream, but not Chloe. She was all set to have a great summer with friends, but now because of a certain boy band, she had to stay home instead. She's not a fan of Spaceships Around Saturn, but now she had to stay with them 24/7? Chaos ensued when Chloe, Aralie, their baby sister Emery and Spaceships Around Saturn would have to stay in one house in a lockdown. And oh, Emery is also a die hard fan of the band. In between making sure Aralie doesn't kill Jules and prying Benji off her little sister's graps, Chloe also had to keep her heart in check when heart throb Milo is threatening to take over it. How will they survive a whole two weeks of lockdown with all the things that happen around them?

From the moment I've read the summary, I immediately knew this book is for me. Growing up adoring boy bands in my spare time, I know that exhilarating feeling that comes with the prospect, the possibility of spending time with the boys you only see on TV. But it's a little bit different for Chloe. It's refreshing to see a girl who doesn't fawn over an extremely popular boy band like Spaceships Around Saturn. Chloe had to be the sensible, grown-up in the family and it's so entertaining to see her interactions with her family as well as the boys in the band, trying to stop fights from breaking out and fighting her growing attraction to one of the band members, Milo.

Can I exchange fridge tweets with Benji too? It's so entertaining to see the different personalities of each band member mesh and sometimes clash with each other. I've lost track how many times I've laughed and almost cried over Spaceships Around Saturn. At the end of the day, they were all just teenagers (though a little older) at heart, and they have their own concerns and insecurities they had to deal with once in a while. It wasn't easy for any of them to be confined in a completely different surrounding, with the threat of being killed hanging over their heads. There's bound to be a band member who will get to you in this novel, and I loved both Milo and Benji. While Milo is nice and shy, Benji had to deal with Emery, and it takes a lot to get along with a die-hard fan who also happens to be a child. Milo was so sweet, nice and mature that it's sometimes hard to believe that he exists in the story. I live for the moments between Chloe and Milo! It gets awkward sometimes, but it was so romantic most of the time that I can't help but root for the both of them. Noah had a special place in my heart for being so funny and cute and he just reminds me of that guy in a band that wasn't your favorite but you love all the same because he's so fun to talk to and interact with.

American Girl on Saturn had a very simple plot, but it's such a joy to read. Nikki Godwin had such an easygoing style of writing that I got swept away with Chloe's life as she tackled the sudden shift in it caused by a group of boys from Canada. Oh, and they're a popular band too. It's what happens inside the house and how Chloe had to deal with each and every member that got me so entertained and before I knew it, I was having fun while reading. There's no shortage of swoon worthy moments and funny scenes in this novel and there are a lot of lovable characters that I just find myself liking this story so very much. American Girl on Saturn is such an engaging story that I'm sure a lot of people will like, especially those who loves and have loved a boy band or two.

Content (plot, story flow, character):
.5
Okay, so I didn't really like Jules. I know, bad boys are supposed to be attractive, but there's something about him that just disagrees with me.

Shining: Worthy of a Goddess' Love!

Book Cover:
How's that for a cover? It's such a beautiful cover with that "out of this world" feel.
