Summary (from Goodreads):

In the world of SORROW'S KNOT, the dead do not rest easy. Every patch of shadow might be home to something hungry, something deadly. Most of the people of this world live on the sunlit, treeless prairies. But a few carve out an uneasy living in the forest towns, keeping the dead at bay with wards made from magically knotted cords. The women who tie these knots are called binders. And Otter's mother, Willow, is one of the greatest binders her people have ever known.

But Willow does not wish for her daughter to lead the lonely, heavy life of a binder, so she chooses another as her apprentice. Otter is devastated by this choice, and what's more, it leaves her untrained when the village falls under attack. In a moment of desperation, Otter casts her first ward, and the results are disastrous. But now Otter may be her people's only hope against the shadows that threaten them. Will the challenge be too great for her? Or will she find a way to put the dead to rest once and for all?

Why I'm waiting for Sorrow's Knot:

Because I LOVED Plain Kate and Erin Bow's an awesome writer? Seriously, I love how magical her stories always sound like and when you read them it's as magical as the summary promises! Sorrow's Knot is another intriguing story that caught my eye and I am just so glad she has a new book being published soon! I cannot wait!

Title: Briar Rose by Jana Oliver
Release Date: September 12th 2013
Published by: Macmillan Children's Books

Summary (from Goodreads):

For Briar Rose, life is anything but a fairy tale. She's stuck in a small town in deepest Georgia with parents who won't let her out of their sight, a bunch of small-minded, gossiping neighbours and an evil ex who's spreading nasty rumours about what she may or may not have done in the back of his car. She's tired of it all, so when, on her sixteenth birthday, her parents tell her that she is cursed and will go to sleep for a hundred years when the clock strikes midnight, she's actually kind of glad to leave it all behind. She says her goodbyes, lies down, and closes her eyes . . . And then she wakes up. Cold, alone and in the middle of the darkest, most twisted fairy tale she could ever have dreamed of. Now Briar must fight her way out of the story that has been created for her, but she can't do it alone. She never believed in handsome princes, but now she's met one her only chance is to put her life in his hands, or there will be no happy ever after and no waking up.

Why I'm waiting for Briar Rose:

Jana Oliver's The Demon Trappers series is one of my favorite reads, so you can just imagine how excited I was when I came across Briar Rose accidentally while browsing Goodreads. I'm always up for fairytale retellings and this is one I wouldn't miss because I love Jana's books and this is a "dark" reimagining of Sleeping Beauty. Am I curious? Very much.

I love getting comments from my readers and fellow bookworms, and I try my best to respond to all of them. Feel free to give me a piece of your thoughts. Also, this is an award-free blog. I simply don't have the time to highlight them anymore, but thank you for thinking of my blog!
