Waiting on Wednesday (94) Inhuman + Beautiful Lies

Hi everyone! So how's the week so far? The weather's wrecking havoc on my immune system. It's a miracle I'm not sick yet. I hate gloomy weather.

Anyway, we are highlighting two books in two very different genres. Hope you like it!

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine

Title: Inhuman (Fetch #1) by Kat Falls

Summary (from Goodreads):

In a world ravaged by mutation, a teenage girl must travel into the forbidden Savage Zone to recover lost artifacts or her father's life is forfeit.

America has been ravaged by a war that has left the eastern half of the country riddled with mutation. Many of the people there exhibit varying degrees of animal traits. Even the plantlife has gone feral.

Crossing from west to east is supposed to be forbidden, but sometimes it's necessary. Some enter the Savage Zone to provide humanitarian relief. Sixteen-year-old Lane's father goes there to retrieve lost artifacts--he is a Fetch. It's a dangerous life, but rewarding--until he's caught.

Desperate to save her father, Lane agrees to complete his latest job. That means leaving behind her life of comfort and risking life and limb--and her very DNA--in the Savage Zone. But she's not alone. In order to complete her objective, Lane strikes a deal with handsome, roguish Rafe. In exchange for his help as a guide, Lane is supposed to sneak him back west. But though Rafe doesn't exhibit any signs of "manimal" mutation, he's hardly civilized . . . and he may not be trustworthy

Why I'm waiting for Inhuman:

I get an urban fantasy vibe from the cover but apparently it's dystopia. I love the concept! It reminds me a little bit of Susanne Winnacker's Weepers series, but I'm highly intrigued by the concept of "Fetch". What kind of artifacts are they recovering? I'm pretty sure action-packed scenes are pretty much an integral part of this book, and I am so excited to read that! It sounds so thrilling and dangerous as the same time.

Summary (from Goodreads):

Rachel and Alice are an extremely rare kind of identical twins—so identical that even their aunt and uncle, whom they've lived with since their parents passed away, can't tell them apart. But the sisters are connected in a way that goes well beyond their surfaces: when one experiences pain, the other exhibits the exact same signs of distress. So when one twin mysteriously disappears, the other immediately knows something is wrong-especially when she starts experiencing serious physical traumas, despite the fact that nobody has touched her. As the search commences to find her sister, the twin left behind must rely on their intense bond to uncover the truth. But is there anyone around her she can trust, when everyone could be a suspect? And ultimately, can she even trust herself?

Why I'm waiting for Beautiful Lies:

Reading her book, Between, was such an emotional experience for me. She's definitely one of the authors whose works I'm looking forward to reading. Being a twin myself, I can relate to some level to this book's plot. It's a mystery YA book, maybe with a bit of a supernatural, dark edge into it. Those combination alone makes me want to read this book right now!
