Waiting on Wednesday (93): Darkwater + Death's Apprentice!

Sorry this post is a little late, but I was so busy I just forgot that this one must go up today.

So here are our picks for this week~

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine

Title: Darkwater by Catherine Fisher
Release Date: September 27th 2012
Published by: Dial Books for Young Readers

Summary (from Goodreads):

What would you sell your soul for?

Sixteen-year-old Sarah Trevelyan would give anything to regain the power and wealth her family has lost, so she makes a bargain with Azrael, Lord of Darkwater Hall. He gives her one hundred years and the means to accomplish her objective—in exchange for her soul.

Fast-forward a hundred years to Tom, a fifteen-year-old boy who dreams of attending Darkwater Hall School but doesn’t believe he has the talent. Until he meets a professor named Azrael, who offers him a bargain. Will Sarah be able to stop Tom from making the same mistake she did a century ago?

This is smart fantasy mixed with elements of horror from master storyteller Catherine Fisher. She says, “Darkwater Hall is an image of the power and knowledge we all desire. But what will we pay for them, and are they worth the price?”

Why I'm waiting for Darkwater:

I am so creeped out by the cover, but I couldn't resist featuring this because I just love the summary! That's such a catchy question "What would you sell your soul for?" It's fantasy mixed with horror, a mix I haven't encountered just yet and for that I am beyond excited!

Title: Death's Apprentice: A Grimm City Novel by K. W. Jeter, Gareth Jefferson Jones
Release Date: October 30th 2012
Published by: St. Martin's Press
Want? Add to your Goodreads list!
Summary (from Goodreads):

Forget about Once Upon a Time . . .

Built on top of the gates of Hell, Grimm City is the Devil’s capital on earth. A place where every coffee shop, nightclub and shopping mall is the potential hunting ground for a ghost, a demon, or any of the other supernatural entities that inhabit the Grimm City world.

Death’s seventeen-year-old apprentice, Nathaniel, comes into his own as he leads an uprising against the Devil with the help of a half-dead wraith and a giant hit-man. What results is a bloody, brutal revolt that calls upon the loyalties of both the living and the dead.

Based not only upon the Brothers Grimm well-known fairy tales, but also upon their “unknown” sagas and essays, Death's Apprentice is the first novel to be based upon the entire Grimm canon. Such a comprehensive, in-depth adaptation of the works of the Brothers Grimm has never been published before!

Why I'm waiting for Death's Apprentice:

How intriguing! This book sounds so dark and is based on Brothers Grimm's fairytale? Yes! This sounds like a boy book, but I'm more than willing to give it a try.

So what are the books you're waiting for this week? Please share!~
