Waiting on Wednesday (84)

I am so psyched this week! I'm gonna be seeing Lauren Oliver when she comes here for a signing! :)

Anyway, here are the books we are waiting for this week:

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine

Summary (from Goodreads):

An inspiring, bittersweet love story about making every day count.

Bryce remembers it like it was yesterday. The scent of chlorine. The blinding crack and flash of pain. Blood in the water.

When she wakes up in the hospital, all Bryce can think of is her disastrous Olympic diving trial. But everything is different now. Bryce still feels seventeen, so how can her little sister be seventeen, too? Life went on without her while Bryce lay in a coma for five years. Her best friend and boyfriend have just graduated from college. Her parents barely speak. And everything she once dreamed of doing—winning a gold medal, traveling the world, falling in love—seems beyond her reach.

But Bryce has changed too, in seemingly impossible ways. She knows things she shouldn’t. Things that happened while she was asleep. Things that haven’t even happened yet. During one luminous summer, as she comes to understand that her dreams have changed forever, Bryce learns to see life for what it truly is: extraordinary.

Why I'm waiting for Anything But Ordinary:

I love how the book cover looks (aside from being an underwater shot), I love all the blurriness on some places, it kind of relates well with the "blurred" times on Bryce's life when she was in a coma. And I love how this sounds so much like a contemporary, but it also gives out that mysterious, maybe a bit paranormal vibe. It reminds me a little bit of Lucid. And who doesn't love that first one-liner?

Title: The Sweetest Dark by Shana Abé
Release Date: August 21st 2012

Summary (from Goodreads):

Chosen to be a charity student at a boarding school in World War I England, sixteen-year-old Lora discovers her long, latent magical powers just in time to battle an evil bent on decimating the school.

Why I'm waiting for The Sweetest Dark:

I'm a big fan of Shana's Drakon series! (Loved The Smoke Thief!) So I was surprised when I found out she's releasing a YA novel. The summary reminds me a little bit of CJ Daugherty's Night School but with a historical twist. It also makes me wonder what Lora's latent powers are. And oh, another gorgeous cover.. I love how the smoke merges with her body...

  14. I'm looking forward to both of these too :). I definitely like the idea of someone waking up out of a coma after a few years. I'm sure it'll make for an interesting book. And I came across the second one a little while ago. I haven't read anything yet by the author though.

And I think it's so cool that you're going to see Lauren Oliver. I loved Delirium and I'm planning on reading Pandemonium soon.

Thanks for commenting on my WOW! Much appreciated!!

These two choices are wonderful!! I especially like the second one, but both are mysterious-sounding...and I love that! Yes, I get hints of the pararanormal, too, in "Anything But Ordinary".

Thanks for featuring these books!! : )
