Revenants Week Blog Tour: Character Profile - Kate Mercier

Hey everyone! I am so excited to be a part of this tour. Die For Me has been one of my most anticipated books last year and today, I am introducing a lovely character on the blog. I'm pretty sure you're all familiar with who she is. Vincent's other half... the lovely Kate Mercier!

Die For Me by Amy Plum

In the City of Lights, two star-crossed lovers battle a fate that is destined to tear them apart again and again for eternity.

When Kate Mercier's parents die in a tragic car accident, she leaves her life--and memories--behind to live with her grandparents in Paris. For Kate, the only way to survive her pain is escaping into the world of books and Parisian art. Until she meets Vincent.

Mysterious, charming, and devastatingly handsome, Vincent threatens to melt the ice around Kate's guarded heart with just his smile. As she begins to fall in love with Vincent, Kate discovers that he's a revenant--an undead being whose fate forces him to sacrifice himself over and over again to save the lives of others. Vincent and those like him are bound in a centuries-old war against a group of evil revenants who exist only to murder and betray. Kate soon realizes that if she follows her heart, she may never be safe again.

Amy has hand picked the actress who she think is similar to Kate's character while writing Die For Me and who did she pick for Kate? Presenting... Emma Roberts!

Name: Kate Beaumont Mercier

Born: December 9, 1991 in New York (16 in DIE FOR ME, 17 in UNTIL I DIE and Book 3)

Hair: Dark brown.

Eyes: Blue-green.

Other vitals: 5'9”, pale skin, almond-shaped eyes.

Characteristics: Boundless love for art, but no talent for creating it.

Other loves: Books, films, ethnic food, ballet and modern dance, really smelly cheese, picnics, and reading in the bathtub.

Quote: Though I am a big believer in gender equality, chivalry scores high in my book. (DIE FOR ME)

She [my mother] teased me for being impetuous, but had always told me to follow my heart. “You have an old soul,” she said once. “I wouldn't say this to Georgia, and for God's sake, don't tell her I told you this. But she doesn't have the same intuition you do. The same ability to see things for what they are. I don't want you to be afraid to go after the things you really want in life. Because I think you will want the right things.” (DIE FOR ME)

I think Kate's pretty amazing. (And hey, she speaks French!) Her love for art is one of the things I loved about her! And I really came to like her character, even when I wanted to wring her neck a few times during the start of the book.

Can't get enough of Die For Me? Then you'll be delighted to know that the sequel, Until I Die will be released soon! A month and a half from now, the book will hit the shelves, and I am so excited for it!

Until I Die by Amy Plum

Kate and Vincent have overcome the odds and at last they are together in Paris, the city of lights and love.

As their romance deepens there’s one question they can’t ignore: How are they supposed to be together if Vincent can’t resist sacrificing himself to save others? Although Vincent promises that he’ll do whatever it takes to lead a normal life with Kate, will that mean letting innocent people die? When a new and surprising enemy reveals itself, Kate realizes that even more may be at stake—and that Vincent’s immortality is in jeopardy.

In Die for Me, Amy Plum created a captivating paranormal mythology with immortal revenants and a lush Paris setting. Until I Die is poised to thrill readers with more heart-pounding suspense, spellbinding romance, and a cliff-hanger ending that will leave them desperate for the third and final novel in the series.
