Summary (from Goodreads):

Obituary-reading emo girl Edith Small is broken - the end result of forcing herself inside a mold that doesn't fit. All she wants is to conform to her strict sergeant stepfather's rules long enough to make it to graduation day.

But a boat accident threatens to unravel the life Edith has worked so hard to keep. After waking up in a hospital with a lacerated shoulder, Edith fakes amnesia. Because admitting she received her injuries from a blue-haired girl who breathes underwater is all the reason Sir needs to send Edith on the first bus to military school.

Safe at home, Edith struggles to put the nightmare behind her. But the mysterious creatures that live in the ocean aren't about to let her forget.

After meeting Bastin - a strange boy with silver hair and black eyes - on a secluded dock, Edith learns about the war raging undersea to end human existence. A war that Edith, unwittingly, has become the key to winning.

In a world where death is an ever-present shadow and motives are as dark as the bottom of the ocean, Edith must decide if her life is worth risking for a love that can't survive past the shore.

Why I'm waiting for Breathless:

Oh my goodness, can you believe how gorgeous that cover is? Underwater shots are always my favorites. I love the mysterious vibe the book gives, it reminds me a little bit of Aimee Friedman's Sea Change. Edith's personality gives me this dark, edgy impression and it adds to the intrigue this book seem to have.

Title: Disharmony: The Telling by Leah Giarratano
Release Date: May 23rd 2012

Summary (from Goodreads):

A psychopath...an empath...a genius.

Three siblings who will save the world – or destroy it.
They know nothing of each other. They know nothing of the Telling.
But they'll need to learn fast if they're going to survive...

A gripping new series about a collision of worlds, the power of destiny, and the darkness in us all...

Why I'm waiting for Disharmony: The Telling:

I eagerly waited at Penguin AU's Between the Lines blog just to see the cover reveal for this book! The words psychopath, empath and genius were enough to rouse my intrigue (and excitement) for Disharmony. How can these three siblings save the world if they remain the way they are? And what is The Telling? Okay, I will stop now with the questions. That just goes to show how eager I am for this book to just come out so I can read it.

  1. Breathless sounds really awesome! I love mermaids or underwater creatures or whatever they end up being! A hot silver haired, black eyed boy will be delicious. Also I like the dark and kind of creepy twist to it! Nice pick! Disharmony is also new to me and does sound gripping.
