Summary (from Goodreads):

Stella Chavez is your classic good girl: straight As, clean-cut boyfriends, and soccer trophies . You’d never guess that Stella’s dad was a drug addict who walked out when she was a kid. Or that inside, Stella wishes for something more.

New girl Ruby Caroline seems like Stella’s polar opposite: cursing, smoking, and teetering in sky-high heels . But with Ruby, Stella gets a taste of another world—a world in which parents act like roommates, college men are way more interesting than high school boys, and there is nothing that shouldn’t be tried once.

It’s not long before Stella finds herself torn: between the best friend she’s ever had and the friends she’s known forever, between her family and her own independence, between who she was and who she wants to be.

But Ruby has a darker side, a side she doesn’t show anyone—not even Stella. As Stella watches her friend slowly unravel, she will have to search deep inside herself for the strength to be a true friend, even if it means committing the ultimate betrayal.

Why I'm waiting for Torn:

This sounds familiarly like Em Bailey's Shift. I love books about friendship and its dark and deadly side. It also has familiar tones like Chloe's relationship with her older sister in Imaginary Girls, so it's an interesting, intriguing mix.

Summary (from Goodreads):

Sixteen-year-old Kyla has been 'slated': all of her past memories erased, her entire personality wiped blank. She has been assigned a new name, a new date of birth and even new parents. The government that did this to her claim she was a terrorist, and that she has been given a second chance. But Kyla knows that the government has been lying. Without her memories, how will Kyla ever find the truth? And if her old self is really and truly dead, then what are the terrifying images that still haunt her dreams?

Why I'm waiting for Slated:

How awesome is that summary? your entire memories erased, an entire new personality. It's like recycling humans! You'll probably think twice of getting into witness protection program or asking for protection from the police if it's like this in the future. Great summary, gorgeous cover. I am so looking forward to reading this!
