Waiting on Wednesday (55)

I've had a big big week! Bookish and other personal stuff. But that also means I'm broke. :) Anyway, enough about me. How are you guys?

Summary (from Goodreads):

Is life offering fewer and fewer options? Then join the dead.

When Annelise meets dark and seductive Ronan, he promises her a new life-if she has the courage to chance the unknown. Now, she's whisked away to a mysterious island and pitted against other female recruits to become a Watcher-girls who are partnered with vampires and assist them in their missions. To survive and become a Watcher, Annelise has to beat out every other girl, but she's determined to do so, because to fail doesn't mean dishonor-it means death.

Why I'm waiting for Isle of Night:

I had to double check. Yep, this is YA, though the cover suggests it's not (they look a bit older). Okay, why does this sound a bit Battle Royale-ish combined with a bit of The Hunger Games? The whole kill or be killed between girls sounds very scary but intriguing. And you have to admit that the concept of girls becoming partners with vampires on missions sound fascinating.

Title: Shifting by Bethany Wiggins
Release Date: September 27th 2011

Summary (from Goodreads):

After bouncing from foster home to foster home, Magdalene Mae is transferred to what should be her last foster home in the tiny town of Silver City, New Mexico. Now that she's eighteen and has only a year left in high school, she's determined to stay out of trouble and just be normal. Agreeing to go to the prom with Bridger O'Connell is a good first step. Fitting in has never been her strong suit, but it's not for the reasons most people would expect-it all has to do with the deep secret that she is a shape shifter. But even in her new home danger lurks, waiting in the shadows to pounce. They are the Skinwalkers of Navajo legend, who have traded their souls to become the animal whose skin they wear-and Maggie is their next target.

Why I'm waiting for Shifting:

That cover is pretty and very scary at the same time.Is it Medusa? I'm curious about the Navajo legend this book is based from, because it sounds terrifying. I thought shifters weren't that bad, but they make it sound something completely dark and horrifying.
