Two Books & A Sequel Special Edition: Waiting on Wednesday (32)

I have the biggest headache in the history of the world. Well, not really, but I do have a headache. And the gloomy weather is not helping to improve my mood! We need sunshine, now!

There's no theme for this week's WoW post, but like always, you might want to add them in your TBR list. ;)

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine

Title: Enticed (The Violet Eden Chapters #2) by Jessica Shirvington
Release Date: March 29th 2011
Published by: Hachette
Summary (from Goodreads):

CONSEQUENCE HAUNTS EVERY CHOICE

Violet Eden is Grigori - part angel, part human. Her destiny is to protect humans from the vengence of exiled angels.
Knowing who to trust is key but, when Grigori reinforcements arrive, it becomes clear everyone is hiding something. Even Lincoln. The only thing Violet does know: Phoenix's hold over her is more dangerous than ever.
The race to find the one thing that could tilt the balance of power brings them all to the sacred mountains of Jordan, where Violet's power will be pushed to the extreme. And the ultimate betrayal exposed.
Why I'm waiting for Enticed:

I don't know if I have said this enough on the blog, but I am a big fan of Angel themed books. There's something about these winged creatures that makes me enjoy their stories, like Unearthly, Angel Star, Hush Hush, you name it. And The Violet Eden Chapters sounds like a marvelous series. I have not read the first book yet (this is a sequel!), but I have a feeling it will be among the ranks of my favorites.

The girl looks a bit like Eva Mendes.

Title: Witchlanders by Lena Coakley
Release Date: August 30th 2011
Published by: Atheneum
Summary (from the author's website):

High in their mountain covens, red witches pray to the Goddess, protecting the Witchlands by throwing the bones and foretelling the future.

It’s all a fake.

At least, that’s what Ryder thinks. He doubts the witches really deserve their tithes—one quarter of all the crops his village produces. And even if they can predict the future, what danger is there to foretell, now that his people’s old enemy, the Baen, has been defeated?

But when a terrifying new magic threatens both his village and the coven, Ryder must confront the beautiful and silent witch who holds all the secrets. Everything he’s ever believed about witches, the Baen, magic and about himself will change, when he discovers that the prophecies he’s always scorned—

Are about him.
Why I'm waiting for Witchlanders:

The first summary I found didn't fully convey what the story is really about but upon reading this (and just like that, threw me off the loop), my book lover senses tingled. It's a book about witches told through a boy's POV, I don't think it can't get any more interesting than that. Is Ryder a witch? Definitely an intriguing plot.

Title: Hunting Lila by Sarah Alderson
Release Date: August 4th 2011
Published by: Simon and Schuster Children's Books
Summary (from Simon & Schuster UK):

17-year-old Lila has two secrets she's prepared to take to the grave. The first is that she can move things just by looking at them. The second is that she's been in love with her brother's best friend, Alex, since forever. Or thereabouts. After a mugging on the streets of South London goes horribly wrong and exposes her unique ability, Lila decides to run to the only people she can trust - her brother and Alex. They live in Southern California where they work for a secret organisation called The Unit, and Lila discovers that the two of them are hunting down the men who murdered her mother five years before. And that they've found them. Trying to uncover the truth of why her mother was killed, and the real remit of The Unit, Lila becomes a pawn in a dangerous game. Struggling to keep her secrets in a world where nothing and no one is quite as they seem, Lila quickly realises that she is not alone - there are others out there just like her - people with special powers -and her mother's killer is one of them…
Why I'm waiting for Hunting Lila:

Hunting Lila. I like the title of this book. Does this remind you a bit of the movie Push? It does. And it sounds like a thrilling, action-packed, fresh paranormal novel! I like male leads named Alex (because of The Perfect Chemistry series) and I somehow get the vibe that this is going to be an intense read.

  2. Hope your headache goes away soon and the sun comes out! :) A bad headache is one of the worse pains in the world. If I have a bad headache, I literally cannot do ANYTHING.

I haven't read or even heard of the Violet Eden series, but they sound really good and I love the covers! I'm in the US, so I haven't seen them around. I want to pre-order the first book in the series so badly off of Book Depository!

  19. These are all quite different books! Enticed sounds interesting. Although, I'm kind of getting burned out on angels. It's funny before reading Fallen I had no idea about fallen angels and Grigori, etc! I definitely psyched about Haunting Lila. Cool cover! I hope it comes out in the US.

I love getting comments from my readers and fellow bookworms, and I try my best to respond to all of them. Feel free to give me a piece of your thoughts. Also, this is an award-free blog. I simply don't have the time to highlight them anymore, but thank you for thinking of my blog!
