Want Books? (1)

I'm taking some time off my reading for a meme created by a fellow Filipino blogger, Chachic! Anyone with a librarian degree specializing in teen literature may want to keep these books in mind when ordering new books.

Want Books? is a weekly meme hosted here at Chachic’s Book Nook and features released books that you want but you can’t have for some reason. It can be because it’s not available in your country, in your library or you don’t have the money for it right now. Everyone is free to join, just grab the image above. Leave a comment with a link to your post so I can do a roundup with each post.
My picks for this week are Melinda Metz' Echoes, Mandy Hubbard's You Wish, Jenny Han's The Summer I Turned Pretty and Kaitlin Gow's Bitter Frost.

I've seen Melinda Metz' Echoes and Mandy Hubbard's You Wish at Fully Booked Eastwood Mall during our daily visit, and since I am nearly broke, I didn't have the heart to buy them even if its only 360-400 php. *sigh* Good thing payday's Friday this week, or I'll die waiting until I have the money to buy them.

The Summer I turned Pretty is available in Fully Booked as well (399 php), but its not in FB Eastwood, I still have to search for it. I can't find Bitter Frost anywhere!

Here are the summaries:

With one touch of an object, Rae can pick up what whoever touched it before her was thinking. What she hears freezes her blood: Someone close by is planning to hurt her...and she has no clue why. As Rae reluctantly teams up with Anthony to figure out who is behind these malicious thoughts, she stumbles upon a much larger secret. And this mystery from her past may hold the key to Rae’s future.

What if all your wishes really came true?

Kayla McHenry’s sweet sixteen sucks! Her dad left, her grades dropped, and her BFF is dating the boy Kayla’s secretly loved for years. Blowing out her candles, Kayla thinks: I wish my birthday wishes actually came true. Because they never freakin’ do.

Kayla wakes the next day to a life-sized, bright pink My Little Pony outside her window. Then a year’s supply of gumballs arrives. A boy named Ken with a disturbing resemblance to the doll of the same name stalks her. As the ghosts of Kayla’s wishes-past appear, they take her on a wild ride . . . but they MUST STOP. Because when she was fifteen? She wished Ben Mackenzie would kiss her. And Ben is her best friend’s boyfriend

Some summers are just destined to be pretty

Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer -- they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one wonderful and terrible summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.

All her life, Breena had always dreamed about fairies as though she lived among them...beautiful fairies living among mortals and living in Feyland. In her dreams, he was always there the breathtakingly handsome but dangerous Winter Prince, Kian, who is her intended. When Breena turns sixteen, she begins seeing fairies and other creatures mortals don t see. Her best friend Logan, suddenly acts very protective. Then she sees Kian, who seems intent on finding her and carrying her off to Feyland. That's fine and all, but for the fact that humans rarely survive a trip to Feyland, a kiss from a fairy generally means death to the human unless that human has fairy blood in them or is very strong, and although Kian seemed to be her intended, he seems to hate her and wants her dead.

So guys, what's on your wishlist?

Also, for my fellow Filipino book bloggers, my friends/colleagues/fellow bookworms Tina and Jana are heading out with me this Saturday and we're gonna go bookstore hopping. Yes, we are taking advantage of the National Bookstore, Powerbooks and Fully Booked sale this month. If any of you is interested you can come with us! Leave me a message here and we'll figure out how you can join us.

  1. Yay, thanks for doing a Want Books post! Isn't it fun to list down books in your wishlist? Because I'm sure I'll never run out of books in that list. There's always a book out there (or several) that I want.
